Created and performed by Chicago’s Tony-Award-winning Lookingglass Theatre Company, the show is a marvel for all ages, transporting audiences down the rabbit hole to a circus-infused playground for an exhilarating adventure inspired by Lewis Carroll’s beloved stories.
Imagination soars and laughter and awe abound in Tony Award-winning Lookingglass Theatre Company’s "Lookingglass Alice," a gravity-defying spectacle filled with breathtaking theatricality. The New York Times calls this circus-infused adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s beloved stories “eye- catching entertainment.” Variety praises the show as “surreal enchantment,” The Chicago Tribune lauds it as “ingenious,” and the Chicago Sun-Times calls it “spectacular… pure, unadulterated magic.”
Both deeply faithful to the Lewis Carroll stories and startingly innovative in its incorporation of dazzling circus arts and acrobatics, "Lookingglass Alice" is a marvel for all ages, a fantastical, dizzyingly playful and gravity defying spectacle, staged with endless wit, astonishing physicality, breathtaking aerial acrobatics and theatrical daring. This signature Lookingglass production is adapted and directed by Ensemble Member David Catlin (The Little Prince, Moby Dick, Frankenstein), was produced in association with The Actors Gymnasium and has toured the country, enchanting audiences of all ages.
Staged with endless wit, astonishing physicality, breathtaking aerial acrobatics and theatrical daring, this is a dizzyingly playful, gravity-defying spectacle for all ages. "Lookingglass Alice" revisits the stories that inspired the founding of Lookingglass Theatre Company. Founded in 1988 by eight graduates of Northwestern University (including future Friends star David Schwimmer, who appears in a special post-performance documentary), Lookingglass is a national leader in the creation and presentation of new, cutting-edge theatrical works. Guided by an artistic vision centered on core values of collaboration, transformation and invention, Lookingglass seeks to capture audiences’ imaginations and leave them changed, charged and empowered.
