About the Show
Filmed over the course of one year which coincides with the 5th anniversary of Pope Francis’s pontificate, "Inside the Vatican" gains unprecedented access to one of the most important places in the Christian world. Nestled in the city of Rome, the Vatican is the head-quarters of the Catholic Church and an independent city-state.
From the Pope himself to his head of security, the nuns who cater to the homeless, the choristers of the Sistine Chapel, the papal gardener, the chief of the diplomatic corps and many others, this two-part series captures the daily lives of those who live and work inside the Vatican.
With access to the private apartments inside the Apostolic Palace, the behind-the-scenes preparations to ready St. Peter’s for the Easter celebrations, exclusive insight into Pope Francis washing the feet of a Muslim inmate of the Regina Coeli prison and the daily life of a young priest, who is also football star in the Vatican League, "Inside the Vatican" gives a deeply human and revelatory insight into the work of Pope Francis over the course of a critical year in the history of the Catholic Church and the inner workings of this independent City-State.
