APPRAISER: Mm-hmm.
Sure.
GUEST: And I was... young, okay, and I thought, "Well, why can't the Tigers?"
I'm a...
I'm from Detroit, big Tiger fan, big sports fan or whatever, so I wrote the Tigers in '73 and asked, you know, "Why can't you have ball girls?"
Well, they wrote back and said, "Sorry, we don't have the room or the facilities for it."
Well, but-- Well, I wrote back again... APPRAISER: But...?
GUEST: And they came back and said, "Well, basically, we're, we can't do it, and here's two tickets and..." So... (laughs) ...letter.
Yes.
Yes.
APPRAISER: And it says, "I'm sorry you do not agree with our policy about ball girls and bat girls."
GUEST: Yes.
APPRAISER: "However, I see no chance for a change at this time.
Thank you for your interest."
GUEST: Yes.
APPRAISER: You know, that's the year right after Title IX went into effect, too, in 1972.
GUEST: Yes, yes.
And I was ahead of my time.
Just, like, I wanted to play Little League, and they wouldn't let me play Little League.
You know, I was just... APPRAISER: So how'd you feel about this?
GUEST: Well, I'm... all these years later, I'm still not happy.
(laughs) APPRAISER: So, look, because of the history of this and what it shows for the eye of the time, I would put an auction estimate of $100 to $150 on it.
GUEST: Really?
APPRAISER: Yes.
GUEST: Wow!
APPRAISER: It's a protest!
GUEST: That's right.
APPRAISER: And thank you for being a tiger about this.
GUEST: Thank you.
(chuckles)
