She was half-French-- her, her mother had, uh, come from France.
APPRAISER: We have a lovely Art Nouveau piece of jewelry.
GUEST: Uh-huh.
APPRAISER: This was actually made around 1890.
GUEST: Oh, okay.
APPRAISER: And it is an American-made piece.
GUEST: Oh, okay.
APPRAISER: It's got the lovely sinuous lines, and it has color, and it's done in enamel.
But it's not just a standard enamel.
This is plique-a-jour enamel.
You also have a, a darling little seed pearl at the top of the pendant, and at the bottom would have hung a pearl that's now missing.
GUEST: Right, right.
APPRAISER: It would have been called either a wing pearl or a dogtooth pearl.
Right.
Usually, those were freshwater.
GUEST: Uh-huh.
APPRAISER: And from America.
GUEST: Uh-huh.
APPRAISER: If a piece like this came to auction, the estimate I would suggest would be $3,000 to $5,000.
GUEST: Oh, my goodness.
And my grandmother, you know, she would just love this moment.
(chuckles) It's like she's here with us now.
APPRAISER: Yeah, absolutely.
