APPRAISER: So you don't know what she paid for him?
GUEST: No.
APPRAISER: Well, this is an outstanding birthday gift.
It is a German Steiff bear, made of mohair.
GUEST: Uh-huh.
APPRAISER: He has the little Steiff button in his ear.
GUEST: Mm-hmm.
APPRAISER: But it's not just any Steiff button, it's the blank button.
So that lets us know he's an earlier bear, from the early 1900s.
He's got the early 1900s snout.
You see how his nose sticks out?
And his eyes are shoe button eyes.
And he's fully jointed and has a swivel head.
GUEST: Yeah.
APPRAISER: Collectors love these smaller ones.
GUEST: Oh, really?
APPRAISER: Yes.
APPRAISER: On today's market, auction, he would sell for around $500 to... maybe $700.
GUEST: Oh, wow.
He does have a few condition issues...
GUEST: Yeah.
...that affect his value.
APPRAISER: He's got a little bit of lost mohair.
GUEST: A lot of fur lost, yeah.
