It was, um, my husband's grandmother's.
and it's just a vase that I always liked, and I don't know anything about it.
APPRAISER: Well, this is Steuben.
GUEST: Oh.
APPRAISER: It's a classic Steuben form, a beautiful vase, a great, uh, color.
This is green jade with alabaster handles.
And we have here a polished pontil that's very typical of Steuben's work.
Steuben, of course, was only the highest quality glass.
GUEST: Okay.
APPRAISER: And to me, that is just an extraordinary vase.
One little problem here GUEST: Yeah.
APPRAISER: we have a crack in the handle.
GUEST: I know.
APPRAISER: This could have happened in the cooling process.
GUEST: Okay.
APPRAISER: But also, people tend to pick things up by handles.
GUEST: Right.
APPRAISER: Glass of this sort, with these delicate handles GUEST: I never do that.
APPRAISER: very bad idea.
If it were perfect, retail value would probably be around $1,500.
GUEST: Yeah.
APPRAISER: That crack, unfortunately, is going to hurt the value quite a bit.
This would probably be around $300.
GUEST: Okay, well, thank you.
Yeah.
APPRAISER: But still a beautiful vase.
GUEST: Yeah, we love it.
