You could have collapsed, pouted.
You could have said we're not good enough, but you gotta keep going.
(gentle inspirational music) - We are all starting at the very, very tip of this ginormous iceberg.
- [Instructor] We The People boils down to a mock congressional hearing.
- No matter how this competition goes down, they will put their best foot forward.
(soft music) - We're winners, I guess.
That feels weird to say because I have not won anything.
(people laughing) (upbeat music) - You gotta be well-informed if you want any impact on anything.
- My students are ready.
- You guys wanna drum-roll me?
(soft music) - [Student] There's a variety of different ideologies in my group.
- In life.
- Yeah, true.
- We are so politically divided.
It's not your beliefs anymore, it's what side are you on?
- We've got serious issues.
We need serious people to tackle those issues.
- [Student 2] This has been my little project.
It's like my version of wearing my heart on my sleeve.
But I'm from West Virginia, so all of my gay rights pins go off during school.
(students laughing) - [Student 3] We're very opinionated.
- No more debates.
- It's not making the other person change their mind, but making sure they understand where you're coming from.
- [Student 4] We don't sit down and talk, we don't actually listen to each other.
(upbeat music) - They are starting to figure out who they are.
I wanna empower my kids to keep questioning.
(upbeat music) - [Student 5] If you don't see it as I want my team to win and more how can we collectively make this country a better place?
It can be something very positive.
(intense music) - Democracy.
