A male leopard grabs Xudum’s cub after a harrowing confrontation.
Shortly after Xudum returns to her young cub, she detects another leopard at the den site. It’s Musweo, nearly double her size and believed to be the dominant male in the area. She confronts him head-on to protect her baby, but in the harrowing encounter, Musweo manages to grab the cub and carries it off into the night.

Trist, Xudum has just arrived.
Xudum's up.
She's heard something.

Guys, there's something going on.
There's another leopard here, Trist.
This is not cool.

[Brad] It's going into the den.
This is a male.
Trist, we've got a male here at the den.
[On radio] He's going into the den.
I'm sure this is Mosweu.
OK, she's coming back in, she's coming back in.
Ok, she's got the cub.
Go.
Go, go!
Take it, take it!
Get out of there.
He's coming out of the den.
She's confronting him.
He's got the cub.
He's got the cub.
[On radio] Go south of me, around the back of the trees.
They've just had a big fight in front of the den here and the male's taken the cub.
I think it's.
I think it's done.
[On radio] Mosweu's just taken the cub.
He's just picked it up in a fight and taken it.
Worst nightmare.
The thing that I was so damned concerned.. and it just fills me with horror.
One of the more harrowing things that I've ever seen.
