Whooping Cranes
Special | 5m 50s
After decades of effort, the whooping crane is slowly returning to Wisconsin.
Loss of habitat and hunting put the whooping crane on the endangered species list in 1970. Baraboo's International Crane Foundation tracks the whooping crane population and the Necedah National Wildlife Refuge provides a safe home for the birds. Then late last year there were two major setbacks to Wisconsin's efforts to save these cranes. We'll update you on the status of these rare birds.
