Hello, everyone, and thank you so much for joining us this week on Granite State Challenge.
We are still early in our 41st season.
Sixteen teams are here to compete to see who takes home the Granite State Challenge Trophy.
And we've got two teams here hoping to punch their ticket to the next round.
Let's introduce them to you.
First up, we have the team from Nashua High School South.
They are led by junior Captain Curtis, who has an interesting performance hobby.
Tell me about this.
Yeah, I joined a barbershop choir.
I saw it at a concert, and I just decided I'm going to do that.
That sounds fun.
Let's do it.
And is it fun?
It's really fun.
It's awesome.
I mean, it's a great skill to have, but it's also going to be fun to perform that for a long, long time.

Curtis is joined by junior.
Narayan who visited how many countries in one week?
I visited five countries over Thanksgiving break.
I went to Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Germany and the Netherlands.
And a favorite country in those five.
And why?
I think Hungary because the Budapest has really nice gothic architecture.

Well, I hope to visit there myself one day.
All right, he's joined by Deetya, who is a dancer.
Tell us about the dance that you do.
So I've been learning Bharatnatyam which is a type of Indian classical dance from India, from Tamil Nadu.
For about 13 years.
13 years.
And that's something you do recreationally, competitively.
Sometimes we do competitions, sometimes just performances and multicultural events.
Awesome.
Fantastic.
And Deetya is joined by Calvin, who's a musician.
Uh, yeah.
So I'm in the band at school in which I play alto saxophone, and then I also play piano outside of school.
I play them for six and ten years respectively, and although I don't do much competing them, I just think it's just a really cool thing to have music as a skill that you can carry throughout your life.
It's something you can like enjoy.

The team's alternates are juniors Krish and freshman Henry, and the team is coached by Lex Duvall and Kelly Thornhill, and they are the team from Nashua High School South, and facing off against them is the team from Souhegan high school.
Souhegan is led by senior captain PJ who is an Eagle Scout.
Tell us about your Eagle Scout journey.
Yeah.
So back in September of 2019, I started my work with Waypoint.
Homeless Outreach Center in Manchester, and I built a fence there, a shed, and replanted a garden there.
Nice.
And did you enjoy the process of the construction of all of that?
Yeah, I like the construction and the leadership there.
Excellent.
It's great and a great cause.

Kasen is a sophomore who enjoys running.
Tell us when you got into running and why you enjoy it.
I got into running pretty young when I was like five or so, and.
I started with my mom and I just think it's kind of fun.
So I really enjoyed doing it.
And you keep doing it and it's good for you, too.

Andrew is a senior and is also in addition to being a senior, a professional, what?
Videographer.
So how did you get into that and what kind of videography do you do?
Well, I got into it because I got a camera and then I just wanted to start using it.
And so I start with pictures and then I did videography.
And so I worked with a group earlier this year and now I'm doing I did like our historical house tour this year.
It was a lot of fun.

Well, hopefully you can continue that on either as a hobby or as a career.
And rounding out the team is Alec.
Alec is a junior and you can do something Alec that I cannot do.
And what is that?

One day I just decided to see if I could and I can.
