I am Sam.
- Oh, so you ordered the take- - Take a piece of my heart pizza with pepperoni, no vegetables and a side of ugly cry cookies.
To stay on theme, I thought about getting the heartbreak Hawaiian pizza, but that has pineapples, and that's like ew.
Besides, my orthodontist installed an expander in my mouth to correct my crossbite, and I don't want pineapple getting stuck in it.
- How old are you?
- 12.
- So here are your pizza and cookies.
And your food comes with a song because we at Pizza My Heart believe we can heal the soul through music and comfort food.
- Cool.

Yeah, it's not bad.
The pineapple is- - Have you ever had your heart broken?
- Oh, yes.
- What did you do to make the hurt away?
- I don't know.
I think I just suffered.
You, um, you aren't alone are you?
- My dad's home but he's working.
I told him I was hungry, so he let me order pizza.
- Oh, gotcha.
By the way, sorry about earlier, I shouldn't have assumed that Sam was a boy's name.
- It's okay, it happens.
My pronouns are she/they, by the way.
- Cool.
Mine are she/her.
I think heartbreaks usually feel worse on an empty stomach.
Maybe you should eat while it's still hot.
Make you feel better.
If your dad's busy, I'll sit with you.
- Okay.
I liked Luke so much, and I thought he liked me too, but then I saw him holding hands with Becky Miller, and that's when I realized my whole love life was a lie.
- Yeah, been there, boys suck.
- [Sam] What was his name?
- The guy who broke my heart?
His name was Thomas.
- Why didn't it work out with Thomas?
- Kind of like you, one day I found him with somebody else.
- Were they holding hands?
- Something like that.
Anyway, you haven't had dessert, you should try an ugly cry cookie.
- Okay.
So, you just suffered through it?
- Yeah.
I thought he was the one.
We talked about having kids.
If we had a daughter, she might have looked like you.
- Was he white?
My dad's white.
My mom was Vietnamese.
Are you Vietnamese?
- Yeah, I am.
So, for a long time all I did was cry.
I cried for days, it really hurt.
Then I wrote a song about it.
- Could you sing it for me?
- I've never had one of my customers request an original before, but okay.

So, can singing, like, help suck the pain out?
Like one of those medical leeches.
- Yeah, it's cathartic.
- Cathartic.
- Sometimes when I'm singing and I'm vibing with the room, and connecting with the audience, even if it's just one person, it's the coolest feeling in the world.
It's like- - Like magic.
- Yeah.
Wanna sing with me?
Purge all those icky feelings?
It, uh, it might help you heal.
- Okay.
