Election day is upon us.
Haven't registered yet?
Don't worry.
You still have time.
In Washington you can actually walk in and register and vote on the same day, right up until 8 p.m.
on Election Day.
Even before Election Day, machines have been scanning ballots at the King County Election headquarters in Renton.
Every ballot from King County voters takes a pass around the second floor of this building.
As workers verify and scan each one.
Downstairs, things get busy, too.
In the days leading up to an election, the first floor election center fills up with last minute voters coming in to register and cast their ballot.
By law, we do have to lock those drop boxes and close those votes center doors at 8 p.m., but if you are in line for either of those things, you will still get to vote and your ballot will be on time.
So folks can come right up until that 8 p.m.
deadline.
Of course, we certainly recommend coming a little bit earlier.
We will probably see some lines.
It also is just good peace of mind to make sure you get that ballot in.
But yeah, if you are a procrastinator we are still going to help you as long as you're in line by 8 p.m.
Each county has at least one election center open until eight on election night, where voters can register and vote.
Go to the Washington Secretary of State's website to find one.
Voters can also get a replacement ballot or get their questions answered on site.
In King County, there are seven election centers open election day.
Hodson says people don't need to bring anything with them to register to vote.
All they need is themselves.
It's helpful if they have their Washington state ID with them, or driver's license is great if they know their Social Security number, the last four digits, it's going to be helpful as well.
Next time we'll tell you what's unique about the state Supreme Court races compared to previous elections.
