Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipGUEST: Well, when I was in podiatry school in Philadelphia, there's a lot of museums, so I used to study.
And at that time, Ronald Reagan was in office.
So I decided to write him a letter asking him to donate a pair of the shoes, so they could be next to Nancy's, 'cause they looked pretty lonely.
And it took about six months.
And I got this letter back from him, and then he donated the shoes subsequently.
So his shoes are now next to Nancy Reagan's shoes in a museum in Philadelphia.
APPRAISER: I will have to say, I have n, not yet on the ROADSHOW had somebody getting a letter from a president talking about his shoes.
(laughs) But it's, it's on presidential postcard.
So it's, it's when he was president, it's all handwritten.
So he actually took time.
This letter is probably worth about $1,000 to $1,500.
GUEST: Oh, wow.
(laughs) I don't think I'll ever part with it.
Probably, I'll donate it to the museum one day, so that it will be next to the shoes, so that other people can enjoy the letter I wrote to him, too.
