All right, teams, go ahead and take a look at your monitors for a picture.

Howard Dean was the governor of Vermont.
All right teams.
In 1980, presidential candidate George H.W.

Meghan of BG.
Ronald Reagan.
Yes All right, teams, next question is a little math question.
How many different outfits can you create with four shirts and five pairs of pants?
It's four times five is 20, and it's easy as that.
All right, teams, this could be the surname of Archie in the sitcom all in the family.
A sand trap on a golf course, a defensive military building, or a hill in Massachusetts where a battle took place.
Toby of BG.
Bunker.
Bunker is right.
All right, teams, our next question is our unitil power question, which is worth double the points.
So a 20 point tossup question coming to you on your monitors.
Take a look.
This term is used to describe the people needed to get a job done, even if some of them are women.
Waleed of Bishop Guertin.
Manpower.
Manpower is right.

And at the end of the round, we've got Bishop Guertin taking a slight lead by a score of 80 to 60.
All right.
Great job teams.
Keep it up.
Right now we're going to take a pause in the action and get to know our players a little bit better.
We're going to start with the team from Bishop Guertin High School.
Bishop Guertin is of course in the city of Nashua about 775 students.
And they are led by team captain Meghan, a senior.
And so you're already thinking about, you know, next year in life after BG, you decided on a major for college.
Yeah.
So, I decided to be an English major.
And I'm not sure exactly where.
Yeah, okay.
That's okay.
Yeah.
You got time to decide why English?
I just think that I've always had a passion for English and literature.
Yeah, so books especially favorite author?
I'd say probably Stephen King.
Local, classic.
Yeah.
Love it.
All right.
Meghan is joined by Anthony, who plays, a game competitively online that I think a lot of people will be familiar with.
What is it?
Pokemon.
Pokemon.
So explain to me how you play competitively online.
It's you enter into either tournaments or leagues with teams of six, usually on teams of nine.
You can bring six Pokemon, okay?
And you battle throughout multiple weeks.
So you have your team of six Pokemon and you battle against someone else somewhere else.
They're six Pokemon.
All right, what's your best Pokemon?
Probably Greninja probably.
Is Greninja.
Like, really good.
Like known to be good.
You.
Gotcha.
Okay.
All right.
I won't ask you if you got any, like, secret weapons on there, because, you know, I want you to win the matches that you're in.
Awesome.
All right.
Anthony joined by Waleed, who, speaks, a language fairly uncommon in the United States in the home.
What is that?
Arabic.
Arabic.
And so we were talking a little bit earlier, but it's a specific dialect of Arabic.
I speak Egyptian Arabic.
Okay.
So what makes Egyptian Arabic different from other dialects?
The letter j and Egyptian Arabic is changed to a g. So instead of saying the word jemu which is good, you would say gemu instead.
Gotcha.
So if you traveled anywhere where they, you know, speak Arabic and, you know, in the Middle East or North Africa and you weren't in Egypt, would people recognize that dialect and know you were from Egypt?
Yeah.
I think it's pretty distinct.
Very cool.
All right.
Awesome.
And rounding out the team of four is Kobe.
Professional semiprofessional ginger breader.
Tell everybody what that means.
So my school holds a contest once a year around Christmas time, and 50 teams compete.
Winner.
Take all the prizes, $400.
And last year, I'm happy to say my team came in first.
Yeah.
Okay.
So you won.
And this year you're competing again.
Got to, you know, keep the trophy.
Yeah.
And, any plans for this year's build.
So last night we had practice, we were getting ready, and we decided on the Washington Monument.
Okay, we're planning on making it four stories tall.
It's going to be pretty impressive.
All right.
Four story tall, Washington Monument out of gingerbread.
The ladies and gentlemen can't wait to see it.
That is Kobe.
And that is the team from Bishop Guertin high school.
All right.
And next up is the team from Prospect Mountain High School.
Prospect Mountain Timberwolves are up in Alton, New Hampshire serves the town of Alton and Barnstead.
And they are led by team captain Loralie has, a lifelong hobby that you've recently got into.
What is it?
Crochet.
Crochet.
All right, so, how long you've been crocheting?
Probably just over a year.
Okay, so just over a year.
So maybe still a novice.
What's some of the cool things that you've crocheted so far?
So I made a Loch Ness Monster for one of my friends, and I've made the mascot for our summer reading program at the library I work at.
I made a little be a little bumblebee.
Fantastic.
Well, keep it up.
Well, that's a great, great skill and hobby to have.
All right.
Laralie is joined by Jude.
You may have seen Jude get that Beatles question, right?
Right.
No surprise, the name Jude is a is an homage to the Beatles song.
And, you are also a collector of music.
Tell us about it.
I love collecting vinyl records and CDs and also cassettes.
It's just a passion of mine and I love music.
Okay, so, are we talking vintage records?
We talk a new records are all of the above.
All of the above.
And these aren't just records that sit on a shelf.
This is also music that you listen to and enjoy.
Yeah, I love to listen to them.
Just when I have some free time, I'm doing work or laundry.
Yeah.
Do you prefer the sound of vinyl over the sound of CDs or cassettes?
Digital music I do slightly.
I know a lot of people listen to vinyl records because the sound just sounds better to them, and I guess my ears just aren't built for that because it doesn't sound too different for me, but I really enjoy listening.
Awesome, I love it.
All right, well, keep that up.
Next up on the team is Lucas.
And Lucas is a geographer kind of like me.
And, you have, a skill you can name every single what?
Every single, most of the national capitals of every pretty much country in the world.
Okay, so where does that knowledge come from?
Like, how do you how do you learn all that when I was, like, even as young as five, I would just go on Google Earth randomly for like, fun.
And eventually I started watching YouTubers like geography now and whatnot about geography, looking at random articles about geography and Wikipedia getting answers and, just kind of developed from there.
And yeah, I guess I have a good memory.
So everything is kind of stuck with me.
Well, that sort of thing pays off on Granite State Challenge.
So if we have some geography questions coming up, we'll see how you do.
All right.
Last up on the team is Liam.
And Liam and I share a hobby with each other.
Which is?
We both play what game?
Dungeons and Dragons.
So how long you been playing D&D?
About 4 or 5 years.
Okay.
And you got into it through family?
Yeah.
Family, friends.
And when you play, do you normally play as a character or you do, do you DM?
Usually I DM.
Okay, so the folks at home may not know what that means to DM what is that?
That's to be the dungeon master where you set the story and run it for your players to fill in the gaps.
Nice.
Excellent.
So a lot of work to be a DM.
Take it from me.
I know this, all right.
And that is the team from Prospect Mountain.
All right teams so great to get to know you.
We're going to roll right into round two of Granite State Challenge in round two is our three strikes and you're out round.
And the way this round works is this.
We're going to start with the team trailing right now, which is actually no we're going to start with, Bishop Guertin.
First.
The team alphabetically first.
And we will give one question to each contestant down the line.
So we'll start with Meghan and then we'll go to Anthony.
All right.
And if you answer your question, we move on to the next person.
If you don't know the answer, you can pass to the next person to your right.
Each team has three passes, and we go right down the line until three strikes.
And your out.
make sense?
All right.
So let's start with BG and Meghan.
This is your question.

It's Bob Dylan and is that the third strike?
So that is the third strike and the end of the round.
All right, so round two is in the books.
And look at this.
We've got a tie.
Score 90 to 90.
And so at this point in time for round three, our 60 second round I would like to invite the alternates to come on up and join your teams.
And in the 60 second round, we give each team 60, sorry, ten questions that they have to answer in 60s based on a category of your choice.
And because it is a tie score, we will start alphabetically.
So BG, you get to choose first from our three categories.
And they are Also Known As, AI, and Don't Worry, Be Happy.
Also Known As.
Also Known As.
