(singing) Tonight on New Hampshire Crossroads, a special holiday concert.
We travel to Newport to hear an 88-member choir representing 26 different churches throughout the Sunapee region.
They call themselves the Area Choir, and for 40 years now they have brought Christmas cheer to New Hampshire.
Angels are singing, the Christ child is born Hi, I'm Fritz Wetherbee, and this is New Hampshire Crossroads.
Theme Music Today we're at Emery Farm in Durham, New Hampshire.
And we're here because Emery Farm always has the most spectacular Christmas decorations.
And tonight, we have a very special Christmas show for you.
Over in the Sunapee region, there is a saying that it's not Christmas until the Area Choir presents its annual Christmas concert.
Every year, at Christmas time, members from 26 different churches from 12 separate area towns come together to form the choir.
They have Episcopalians and Methodists and Congregationalists and Baptists, Christian Scientists, Greek Orthodox, Catholic, Seven Day Adventists.
All join forces for a celebration in song.
The Area Choir presents its concert at the South Congregational Church over in Newport, New Hampshire, and this year, on their 40th anniversary, we had a chance to tape their concert.
I think you will find this a very special Christmas program.

We here at New Hampshire Crossroads would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas.
O little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie Above thy deep and dreamless the silent stars go by Yet in thy dark streets shineth the everlasting light The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight How silently How silently the wondrous gift is giv’n So God imparts to human hearts the blessings of His heav’n No ear may hear his coming but in this world of sin Where meek souls will receive Him still, the dear Christ enters in For Christ is born of Mary, and gathered all above While mortals sleep, the angels keep their watch of wond’ring love O morning stars together proclaim the holy birth and praises sing to God the King, and peace to men on earth
