Someone's been seriously injured.

-The boat Shay went out on.
There's been an explosion.
One person's seriously hurt.

-What happened, Emma?
-We'd only just got out onto the open water whenever the engine blew up.
Brendan was standing right next to it.
I tried my best to pull him away from the flames.
-Emma, Emma...
He is in good hands.
-I wanna go with him.
-Yeah, no problem.
Hey.
Did you two see what happened?
-No, not really.
We just heard the explosion.
-It would have wakened the dead, Marlene.
I thought my time had come.
-Young Shay, he saved the day.
Grabbed an extinguisher.
Put the fire out.
-You can let go now, Mum.
-No.
-It's fine.

-Here, what's this I hear about you being a hero?
-I just did what anyone else would.
-Do you want me to give Finn a call?
Let him know what's happened?
-Well, he's in recovery.

He reckons the engine's been faulty for some time and that a competent skipper should have known not to set sail.
-Or a skipper who wasn't drunk.
Emma's gone to hospital.
So, can you head over there with Callum?
-Of course.

-Well, I'm not pregnant yet, if that's what you're asking.

This is Detective Constable Al Quinn.
-Any word on your colleague?
-They rushed him down to the operating theater.
He's in a really bad way.

I had a few last night.
-Given the smoke inhalation you've suffered, will you consent to a blood test?
-I'm sorry.
That was a lie.
I have had a few nips of vodka.
The fact that I've had a drink -- that's not the reason the engine blew up.
I told the boat's owner, Jim Murdock, that it was dangerous!

-Last night.
-Do you have any record of that?
-Of course.
I left a report on his desk.
♪ -Well, Jim Murdock's here now.
So, I'll ask him.

-Any news on how Brendan's doing?
-Yeah.
He's in surgery.
-Are you really not gonna let me take a look at my own boat?
-Not until the Fire Investigators are finished.
Jim... did Emma Bradshaw inform you that the engine was faulty?
-No.
She didn't.

Because she's saying that she put a report on your desk last night -There was no report on my desk.
The thing is, Marlene, Emma's not been totally... reliable lately.
-What do you mean?
-She's been drinking.
A lot.
I spoke to her about it.
She swore she'd cut down.

Was Emma Bradshaw drunk in charge of a boat that had my son, my mother, and Barry on it?
-Yeah, but Finn, they're all okay.

-Well, she says that's what she used to print off a report about the state of the engine of the Huntress, that she claims she left on Jim Murdock's desk.

-We took some businessmen from Belfast out yesterday.
The engine was really playing up.

-So, you flagged up your concerns to the boat's owner, yeah?
-I wrote up the report on my laptop, went to Jim Murdock's office, and printed it off.
I left it on his desk.

I suppose I've not got out of the habit.

He was after the laptop and he told you to make it look like a burglary.

Emma swears she wrote Murdock a report telling him that the engine on the Huntress was dangerous.
This morning, that engine exploded, leaving Brendan McKenna very badly burned.
-He's in intensive care.
They're saying his chances are 50/50.
So, tell me, Davey, where did you meet Murdock to hand over the laptop and get your 200 quid?
-The car park of the Dew Drop Inn, on the Ballymountain Road.

In the two years since my dad died, I've run the company into the ground.
-A man was very badly injured.
He nearly died.

Brendan has life-changing injuries, but he's gonna pull through.
-It's one thing trying to cover your negligence, it's another doing your best to make sure that Emma took the blame.
-I panicked -You told a pack of lies.
And that's unforgivable.

Do you know how long Al is planning to stay here?
-No.
I hope it's forever, though.
With the Inspector off sick, Al's played a massive part in keeping this place going.
Why d'you ask?
-It just seems like everything's gone wrong since he arrived.
-You can't blame Al for Finn's breakdown.

-That call we made to Occupational Health may well have saved Finn's life, and we have Al to thank for that.

-Whatever Jim did, I was the skipper.
I should never have taken that boat out.
-And you're gonna have to pay the price for that.
What have they charged you with?
-I've been charged with endangering a ship.
They're still waiting on the blood alcohol test but... you should know, I've made an appointment to talk to my doctor.

-Now that sounds like the first step on the road to the rest of your life.

-Well... ...people think I've just discharged myself, but... the truth of it is, the residential program ended days ago.
