[♪] We set the show in Tauranga, because it represents almost the antithesis to what New York is.

Tauranga is this incredible summery place, community focused, where you're defined by what you do just as much after work as what you do during work.

The part of the appeal of Tauranga is that there's a balance between a small town, but a big theater community.

It's an interesting balance in New Zealand that the regional music theater companies, there's quite big stakes involved because they often are the closest thing that the people in that community have to seeing professional musical theater.

We are a symbiotic relationship because we are very key players in Tauranga amateur musical theater.

So my character, Adrian Templeton, considers himself the artistic director of the entire universe.

[Laughing] That's true.

And, and Jackie James.

Jackie James, fancies herself as the lead actress of all lead actresses.

Jackie and Charlie have a special relationship.

They were, you know, those inseparable kind of theater besties who spent their entire teens together and had their secret language and knew everything about each other and then drifted, really, when Charlie's ambitions got in the way of his happiness.

I am so happy you're home.

Gaye doesn't have many challenge because she's just a glass not only half full, but it's overflowing.

So Gaye just sees the positive in everything.

Her only challenge is she wants to try and make his life better because she loves him so much.

That is, so yum.

Ah, great.

Anyone that knows me and now follows me on Instagram, knows that I love to dance a lot.

From the age of like 7 to 17, I did jazz ballet, so I had kind of a background in dance way, way, way back.

So I kind of just try to brush up on my skills.

Charlie is going to help with the show.
