-And, you know, if you have more storage that you need, you can go buy another apple box and put it on top and connect it all the way up the wall if you want.
-Just keep building, right?
-Keep building.
-New parents tell us that it's always a dilemma finding the right wall anchor for the various things they want to hang in the nursery.
Here's Jonathan with some tips.
-All right, so if you've ever been into a home goods store looking for wall anchors in order to hang pictures or whatever it is on the wall that you might want to put up on there, you, probably like everybody else, has run into a problem of "Which anchor do I pick?"
And believe it or not, every single one of those anchors has a different purpose.
We're going to show you a couple different options with different wall anchors, but the best option if at all possible, any time you're hanging anything in Sheetrock would be to try to find a stud.
So, the first anchor that we're gonna use is just a typical anchor that most people are familiar with.
The first thing you want to do is you're gonna need to drill a pilot hole in order to allow your anchor to fit in.
All right.
And then you're going to push your anchor in.
Once the screw goes through here, it's going to expand this piece of plastic, not only internally inside the Sheetrock but also on the back side of this.
[ Drill whirring ] See how it opened up there?
[ Drill whirring continues ] That opening up, not only has it expanded inside the Sheetrock on the inside of this, but it's also now created like a little barb so that it gives you the additional support.
That's the reason such a small anchor and a screw in Sheetrock can hold such a large weight of around 40, 50 pounds.
This is a much larger anchor bolt that's gonna allow for more weight.
When you change the size of the anchor, you also need to change the size of the pilot hole that you're drilling into the Sheetrock.
[ Drill whirs ] And you're gonna see a similar reaction to the back of this, except for this one pulls snug.
So you see these anchors, these barbs actually pull against the Sheetrock.
These work really well for basically hollow walls.
So there's no insulation, there's nothing behind it.
Hollow walls are typically going to be your interior walls.
Your exterior wall, with your windows, that's where your insulation is gonna go, and it's gonna allow it to grip like that.
So we're gonna try a third option.
It's a little bit different, as you can see, not only in size but also in functionality and installation.
You're gonna screw it in a little bit, get it going, and then you're gonna get your Phillips screwdriver head and you just use that.
[ Drill whirs ] As you can see, this is in there, but there's one neat other additional feature that happens with this one.
And you'll see when we screw this in, it pushes out a little lever, and then tightening it down will bring that back to the Sheetrock.
[ Drill whirs ] It gives you a broader grip which also gives you more strength.
We're gonna show you two more options that really only truly work with hollow walls.
[ Drill whirs ] So, again, that screw caught it, pulled it in, and now it's created an additional bit of security and strength.
The last option is gonna be a toggle, and these come in all different shapes and sizes and links, and again, you want to make sure that if you are dealing with additional surface here that you want to make sure that when the bolt is closed, that you have enough room for it to open up.
'Cause if you don't do that, it's just gonna stay like that, and then it won't hold.
It'll pull in and it won't give you the security that you want.
So you got to make sure that you have the right size and length of bolt.
So when you install this one, it's a little tricky because, again, you see that there's some room.
So you have to make sure that it actually is connected to the wall.
[ Drill whirs ] So once you get it tight, it's nice and secure.
All of these should work well.
Again, they all have different weight capacities.
And always be aware of, you know, the type of wall -- interior, exterior, and ceiling.
A toggle bolt is gonna be your best option for a hollow wall, and an anchor bolt is gonna be your best option for an insulated wall.
Always make sure you check your packaging so that you have the correct bolt for the weight that you're trying to hang on the wall.
