Welcome back to our learning space.
My name is Miss Lara.
Can you tell me your name?
I'm so excited that you made it back today.
Today is Thursday, which means we're gonna have a lot more fun.
We have our friend here, Leo the letter loving lobster, that's gonna lead us in our good morning song.
So here we go!
♪ Good morning ♪ ♪ Good morning ♪ ♪ It's a sunshine kind of day ♪ ♪ Come join Miss Lara ♪ ♪ For some learning and some play ♪ ♪ Will we sing us a song ♪ Of course we will ♪ Make our brains strong ♪ Like super strong ♪ So come along ♪ Yes, come on, friends ♪ For some learning and some play ♪ Okay, Leo, time for you to go away.
And we'll go through our plan.
So we always start off with an emotional check-in.
That's when you say how you're feeling, and we talk about another feeling that may come up with the focus skill, this week, it's sharing.
So I'm feeling really happy today.
How about you?
Are you sleepy?
Are you sad?
Are you joyful, like me?
Remember, it's important to check, not just once when you're with me, but throughout the day, that helps you learn and keeps your brain strong.
After we do our emotional check-in and song about sharing, we're gonna move on to our weekly investigation.
Our focus text is "The Rainbow Fish".
The story about a fish who learns to share its scales and finds true happiness.
If you missed that story, it's in Monday's episode.
So make sure you go back and watch.
And then, we'll end with an activity.
Today, we're gonna play with water and sharks.
And a good bye song.
Does that sound like a good plan?
Okay, so we've been singing all about sharing as part of our emotional check-in to start our day.
So remember the song?
The tune is, "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star," and it goes like this.
♪ When I share, I let you touch ♪ ♪ Please be careful ♪ ♪ Thank you so much ♪ ♪ When I share, you know it's mine ♪ ♪ And give it back after a time ♪ ♪ When I share, we show and tell ♪ ♪ And play together very well ♪ ♪ When we share, we take turns ♪ ♪ We wait and watch, and watch and learn ♪ ♪ When I share, you play with me ♪ ♪ I play with you and others too ♪ So hopefully, you get to sing that song when you talk about sharing with your family, or read books about sharing.
Speaking of books, I have an activity for us over here.
I'm gonna give you a letter clue that's gonna tell you what we're gonna do.
So remember, all of our letters start at the top, and they're made with big lines, little lines, big curves, and little curves.
So here's your first clue.
I've been teasing you with this letter all week, huh?
It's not a P though.
You add another little curve, and you get what letter?
The letter B, that's right!
B for beginning sounds.
And that's the activity that we're going to do together.
Beginning sounds are the first sounds that you hear in a word, aren't they?
So we're gonna match the beginning sounds today, from the characters and things from our story, "The Rainbow Fish."
So let me review the items that we're going to match.
It's a fish.
We're gonna do scales.
And look, I found rainbow scales.
A star, like the starfish that our fish asked for advice, huh?
And an octopus.
Now, this was the animal that actually gave the advice to share the scales.
And then, the ocean.

You're going to need a plastic tray, some water, some foam, and some markers.
So let me show you what I've made so we can play our game.
So the first thing I did was I took a tray and I filled it with water like this.
And then I cut out some fish with some foam and then added the letter on them like this.
And then I thought, "Oh, this is gonna be extra fun."
I'm gonna use some tongs but they can't just be any tongs that you used for sud.

You don't have to get this fancy but it does make it extra fun.
So what I did to make this is I took one of these little foam balls that you find at the place where everything's a dollar.
And I cut it in half, painted it gray, and added some details.
