Faces were covered by guerilla masks, ma'am, but from what DS Edmunds witnessed, two IC1 males, six-foot-plus, well-built.

Patrick.
DI Ray, this is DI Patrick Holden.
He's our kidnapping specialist.
Rachita: Hi.
Patrick: Hi.
Kerry: He and his team will be working closely with you and your team on the case.
I wasn't aware I was being supervised.
Kerry: This is a high-profile case.
It's standard procedure.
This isn't about you, Ray.
That's not how it seems, ma'am.
Rachita, my team are setting up an incident room to assist with intelligence and-- Kerry: Yeah, just tell them to manage it until I get there.

Kerry: Ray.
[Quietly] I think we should clarify who will be doing what so there's no misunderstandings.
Patrick: Absolutely.
I can assure you we're here to support your investigation.
We'll gather and monitor whatever intelligence we can regarding the kidnap, so you can crack on with your investigation into the murder of Frank Chapman and Megan Parks.
But we should keep lines of communication open.
Of course, the priority being to preserve life.

Rachita: OK, so we've already been looking at his movements just before Frank Chapman's murder, and we were watching the Mochani shop at the point of the abduction.
I've sent uniform and forensics to secure the scene and collect any CCTV.
And now we need to build up a comprehensive picture of his lifestyle, finances, business associates, his movements and communications over the past six months.
Our focus should be on the nature of his connection to the Chapmans, however, we can't rule anything out at this stage.
The Mochanis are relatively new in town, so it's possible this may be part of a pre-existing feud from Leicester.
We also need to consider this could be to do with Rav's time inside, so potentially, it could be somebody he's upset, seeking revenge.
He's been Deaf since childhood and wears a hearing aid.
Wasn't aware of that.
Can I suggest one of your team be seconded to us as a conduit, make sure nothing falls between the cracks of the two teams?
Rachita: DC Ellis?
Charlene: Hmm.

Rachita: Liam, we need to trace the kidnap vehicle.

Uniform are headed to the address now, but it looks like they've cloned the plate, ma'am.

Rachita: OK, we already know a fair amount about Rav Mochani as a murder suspect in the Chapman case, but now he's a hostage, and it's possible he's been taken to be executed.
Either way, I believe there's an imminent threat to life.
[Muffled groaning] ♪ [Panting] [Sound amplifies] [Vehicle engine humming, car horn honks] ♪ [Theme music playing] ♪ Who's she?

My son had nothing to do with Frank Chapman's shooting.
I'm absolutely certain.

We need to track down the vehicle that was used to move Rav Mochani ASAP.

♪ Ma'am, something's been found on Rav Mochani's laptop.
♪ Rachita: Well, who is she?
Is she a relative?
Liam: This image was sent to Rav by Frank Chapman via an encrypted messaging service three days before his murder.
[Typing] Tech have retrieved four other images of children that have been deleted.
They all appear to be around the same age.
Rachita: Same race, by the looks of it.
This is the same girl.
Liam: But only this image was sent to Rav by Frank.
Charlene, can you contact the Child Sexual Exploitation team and get them to start investigating the other images?
Charlene: Mm-hmm.
Rachita: We need to prioritise this girl.
Liam, is there location-tagging on the picture?
Disabled, ma'am.
Well, something was going on between Frank Chapman and Rav Mochani.
We need to figure out what the hell it was.

[Hangs up phone] Rachita: What did they say?
Charlene: They said their team are already busy dealing with thousands of images of unclothed children, so our images are low-priority in comparison.
I just got off the phone with the Super.
Can I see the images, please?
They were pretty firm, ma'am, said, "We have to investigate it" and only get back to them when we know it's a problem.
We need to speak to the Mochanis and find out about this girl.
Do you think she could be a relative?
Rachita: Whoever she is, it's the first concrete evidence we have that Frank Chapman and Rav Mochani have been in communication and that there have been some conflict and bargaining going on that could constitute a motive for murder.
This looks like Birmingham.
Can you zoom in a little, Liam?
♪ That's the BT Tower.
Kerry: And the Library.
Rachita: I'm pretty sure this is taken south of the City Centre.
Kerry: It's pretty distinctive.
Any idea where it is?
Charlene: Could be somewhere around the Selly Bank Estate, I reckon, ma'am.
Liam: Yeah, that's a good shot.
Rachita: Right.
You two narrow down the location and then prioritise a door-knock for tomorrow.
Kwesi, can you go and speak to the Chapmans?
Clive, can you liaise with SOC and secure a building near to the Chapman and Mochani residences so we can set up an observation post?
Everyone slips up, and we need to be there when they do.

Now, as you can see, when we go in close, the striation marks are significantly different.
Bullet A has markings suggesting a semi-automatic Taurus, and Bullet B has the markings of a 9mm semi-automatic Glock.
So we're talking about two completely different weapons?
Not only that, the weapon that fired the first bullet has been out of circulation for years.
It's practically vintage in the gun world.
So the delay from the first, clumsy shot to the second more targeted one isn't one person's delay.
They're different shooters.
Rachita: So we have two guns from two different killers.

The little girl's been checked over by a doctor.
There doesn't appear to be any signs of physical trauma, and she's eating and drinking well.
Rachita: Where is she now?
Liam: She's been taken to a secure Social Services facility.

I've, um, got some docs for you here, ma'am.
Now, this is a health check of an unnamed seven-year-old girl performed by a clinic in India.
It was one of the attachments in a deleted email chain I managed to recover between Rav Mochani and a contact I traced to an orphanage just south of Delhi.
[Typing] Also attached was this.
Rachita: It's her.
Sajna.
I ran it through checks with the passport office, and it's fake.
So it looks like she's been trafficked.
In one of the emails, the contact at the orphanage asks where the child will be residing, and this was Rav's reply.
Would you mind reading out the address highlighted in the email?
[Sighs] 5A Eelbrook House, Edgbaston, Birmingham, B15 6CC.
Liam: And can you confirm it is your address, Dawn?
Dawn: You know it is.
My colleague, DC Payne, has been looking into Ravinder Mochani's laptop.
He's found some correspondence between Rav and an orphanage in India.
I'm going to ask you now, have you and Ravinder Mochani been involved in bringing this girl over from India illegally?
How do you explain the fact that your address, the one that you just read out, the one where we discovered the child, was declared as being the address that this child would be staying at?
Do you know what happens to children that are trafficked?
Often, they are sold into domestic servitude, used as slaves, but more often than not, they're used by paedophiles.
I'm guessing you know what paedophiles do to children, right, Dawn?
♪ Rachita: And do you know what happens to people involved in trafficking them?
At least 14 years.
♪ Can you imagine how frightened this little girl must be, not knowing why she's been brought here to a country she doesn't know, not knowing who's going to take care of her?
She's seven years old, Dawn.

And she's all alone!
Dawn: He wouldn't be involved in something like that.
Liam: Who are you referencing, Dawn?

And what's the nature of the relationship between you two?

Rachita: His cousin?

♪ He asked me to look after her for a bit, but then he disappeared on me, and I didn't know what was happenin'.
And I felt bad, but I didn't want her there!
I didn't know what to do with the kid!
[Breathing heavily] Liam: Dawn, when was the last time you saw Rav Mochani?
Came round last Sunday.
Liam: What time?
Late, like around... 10:30.
He said he'd be there at 8:00.
I gave him ... 'cause I thought he was with someone else, but he said he was at some family dinner.
Rav Mochani has a potential alibi for the murders of Frank Chapman and Megan Parks.

He uses an app to track his bike rides.
You can see here is where he nearly came off.

A little confused with everything that's going on, but seems happy enough.
Woman: She'll be rehoused with a foster family as soon as somewhere suitable is found.
She can understand more English than she speaks, so we've been communicating partly in English and partly in Punjabi.
