I grew up in.
Nashua off Exit six, near Hollis, and I grew up coming to the library.
I had music lessons.
I would go to the symphony when I was younger, and as I got older, I really wanted to study film and I thought I wanted to live in big cities and have a very cosmopolitan life.
And I did moved to New York and I lived there for a few years and then I moved to Los Angeles and I just couldn't stop thinking about Nashua and all of these things that I didn't notice about.
This city really stood out to me when I lived in other places.
Weird things like I would think about Mine Falls all the time.
When I lived in I.A., sometimes I'd wake up and be like, I wish I could just go for a walk in Mine Falls today, or I didn't notice until I lived in California.
You know, I would look out a window and say, I missed seeing a cardinal and most of all, I kind of missed the really close knit community feel of Nashua.
I didn't miss a lack of diversity, and that was one of the things that kind of held me back from moving back home for a long time was I liked being in a lot of diverse places and experiencing a lot of different cultures and food.
But I finally did move home when I was 28, and I did notice right away that.
I was back in a very white space and.
I was a little worried.
And I came to the library one day I was downstairs and it was a community organizing group, and I met someone who had become my friend.
His name is Manny and he's an organizer in the area.
And he found me in the crowd and was like, You, you should come out and help with this.
You should help with this.
And I saw that he was so connected to the community and doing such great work.
And I was like, I want to be like him.
And from there I did start volunteering more, and he encouraged me to do a program called the New Leaders Council, and it's for millennials in New Hampshire to give them leadership skills, but also to help keep that demographic in the state.
And I found a lot of people who felt like me that they loved New Hampshire and they wanted to see it grow.
And I'm so glad I did it because I connected to a lot of great people and in Nashua and.
I started exploring more community organizing.
And I studied diversity, equity and inclusion.
And then I came back five years later after meeting Manny, I was back in that same room at the library interviewing for a position here, which is the role I'm in now, and that's in programing and marketing.
So now every day I live my dream of making community connections and helping people find safe space and learn about each other.
And I feel like whatever qualms I had about Nashua, it's I have a role in in making it more accessible and diverse for everyone now.
