I own Mola.
Foods, so we do spices.
I create spices.
I manufacture them sauces, beverages.
We also do like a fusion of African cuisine where we introduce the palates of the of New Hampshire to a food from Africa.
It actually started when I moved here in New Hampshire.
That's when my friend in Australia was harassing me, like every day, saying that, you know, you can do something with the recipes that your grandmother gave you and essentially was me just doing hot sauce.
And so I was like, I'm not going to do that.
That's not you know, that's really not what.
I want to do.
I just don't see myself doing that.
So every day, diligently, he'll call me and he'll say, Have you thought about it?
It's a very good idea.
So I. I took time to think about it, and I woke up one morning and I called him and I said, you know, yes, I'm going to do it, but I'm going to do it my way.
And I said, I'm going to do my grandmother's hot sauce.
Then I am going to pick onto the creation of what she was teaching me as a young child.
And then I'm going to create a line of spices.
And I basically just going to create what she was teaching me as I was going to spend time with her.
My grandmother didn't sit me down and was like, this is that.
That's not what she was doing.
But her way of educating me and teaching me was the role of the female in Africa, as many know is in a kitchen.
You have to learn household things.
So as a young child, that was her priority, that I knew how to cook, how to clean, how to do everything that a woman is supposed to do.
So I spend my summer with her.
It was my escape place, to go spend time with my grandmother, help her run a farm.
And so in return, she would want me to help her in a kitchen.
And in helping her in the kitchen, she'll be doing her things.
She never measured anything.
I just saw what she was doing.
And then she will say to me when she's at the farm, She would say, can you go back, go home and start dinner and be like, start dinner?
<laughs> What you mean I don't know what to do?
And she's like, everything I've been teaching you, you don't know what to do?
No, I don't know what to do.
She said, Well, you are not paying attention.
From now on, when I come to the kitchen, you come into the kitchen and you're going to look at everything I'm doing because I want you to do exactly what I'm doing.
So that's how I started learning.
So I will go home before she gets home from the working in the field all day.
And I will cook.
I'll cook dinner for her.
Sometimes I will cook lunch and I will take her back in a field for her to eat.
And I will come back home and do chores at home while she's still working in a field and stuff.
So that's basically how I learned.
Every day she will have something new to teach me.
Every time I had to learn a different thing.
The way people are here, kind of like give me a sense of brings me a sense of peace.
I'm more into being peaceful and not bringing too much, you know, drama around myself.
So when I find myself in a place where I can be myself and be at peace, then.
I want to be there.
