You know, following his passing, like, you know, I wanted to do something.
There was sort of that feeling of like, that's it.
Like he had, you know, this great legacy and like, history with the city.
He was involved with the kind Pennichuck Water Works acquisition.
He established a lot of conservation land around the city.
He was involved with the Broad Street Parkway, but I think most people knew him for his work with the high school projects and the construction of north and renovation of South.
So I started to think like I wanted to do something involving education.
And this idea for a STEM scholarship came to mind.
He was a software engineer.
He was very passionate about astronomy and the sciences and space exploration and loved just any little, you know, I mean, what's the nicest way any little geeky, nerdy thing was just it was his thing.
And, you know, he had this passion for, you know, lifelong learning too, you know, learning didn't stop outside of the classroom.
It didn't stop because they were out of school.
So this foundation came about sort of trying to channel those beliefs of his and reflect that.
And, you know, that's where we started was with the scholarships.
And so we award scholarships to north and south students pursuing a STEM degree, something based in science, technology, education and mathematics.
And since our formation, we've sort of gotten to this, well, what else can we do?
What impacts can we have?
How many how many students can we reach?
And so along with the scholarships, we've been giving out grants to elementary schools, we've partnered with the Adult Learning Center and provide funding for them to have exploration, STEM come into classrooms in Nashua and get a STEM demonstration.
We just gave out a grant to the Nashua Riv.
So Station and the first robotics team, we've gone through DonorsChoose and given grants to various classrooms.
Anything that's kind of supporting STEM that we can find, we try to fund and encourage participation and promote those kind of things.
So there was a lot of work going on at North at the time, and they were working and construction was going on and then they were working on the development and plans and moving into the renovation at South at the time as well.
So because I was interested in it, I asked if I could come along and just see what or see what was going on.
So I remember getting to go to a couple of construction meetings which were a little dry in content to a 17 year old at the time.
But I went to some of the construction meetings and got to meet the architects and the contractor.
I got to tour north while it was under construction, and then before before it opened and after it finished, sort of.
And then the same thing with South, I would get to go to a couple of meetings and get to go walk around on the site with with my dad and the construction guys, obviously, you know, and getting to kind of experience that firsthand and seeing what I was going to get to do for my job at some point
