I was kind of a ham when I was younger.
Love to be on camera.
I love to play with video cameras.
That was back when we had the old VHS, you know, the hand on the shoulder.
And I went to college to get into broadcasting.
Ended up I loved being in behind the camera and playing with the toys more than I like being in front of the camera.
So I got a degree in.
In video production.
TV production.
TV broadcasting.
And got my first job in Utica, New York.
And then from there, went to Syracuse, New York, and worked a couple jobs there.
I did some freelance and really found a passion for editing.
So edited promotional did a lot of news promotions after 911 because we watched 911 on air.
We watched it happen live in front of us.
I kind of had a kind of a change of heart that I wanted to do something a little bit different to kind of give back.
And I felt like I wasn't doing that, working in broadcast news.
So I always had a passion.
I always loved working with our interns.
We used to get a lot of interns from Syracuse University at SUNY Oswego.
And I always loved working with those.
I saw a advertisement in the paper back when advertisements were in the paper, and it was for the teaching job at my old high school.
The video teacher was retiring.
I told my wife and I could do that job.
That would be so much fun.
So I ended up going back to school, got my masters.
I learned how to teach what I know and got into teaching.
Got it into teaching high school.
I've always been a New England fan.
My uncle moved here when I was a little kid.
He used to live in Springfield, Mass.
And I always loved coming to New England... Patriots fan.
So and they used to pick on me all the time about it in Virginia.
So I saw this job and I applied for it.
And I the minute I walked in that high school, I just knew this was going to be my my job for quite a while.
So I just love it here.
And it's the people are great.
And I feel like, you know, I feel like a native.
So this is my 12th year teaching in Nashua.
So I have a bunch of alumni that are that have graduated.
A lot of them are in college now studying to go into some sort of media, some sort of media pathway.
But I have a lot of successful alumni out there.
One of our alumni.
He graduated from Arizona State University, and he is doing he's an IMAX cinematographer and he can actually film underwater.
He worked on a an IMAX movie that's actually showing in Boston right now called Ancient Caves.
And he won a an award for his cinematography doing that.
I have another student.
She is oh, she's doing so great.
She's working on she is doing a production accounting for shows on Bravo for TLC, HBO, MTV.
We've had other students work on shows like production assistants, on MTV, shows on MTV.
We have students that have started their own production company.
I have one student in Rochester who went to RIT, and him and his roommate started their own production company in Rochester, New York, called Mountain House Media.
And they are making commercials.
They're doing all kinds of great things out there.
They have a fantastic facility.
Not just, we have students that are working for Inside Edition.
I mentioned ESPN.
We have a bunch of students that are out on the West Coast.
They are working in the business side of it.
Some have worked on the Ellen Show and we have another one of our students who has done some sports documentary and was actually up for a Emmy for his work on the documentary called Tua, about Tua Tagovailoa.
And he was pretty didn't he didn't win the Emmy, but it was still pretty exciting for him to be nominated.
So he was pretty excited about that.
And he's doing some great stuff working for Showtime and doing some sports documentaries out there.
Not all our students go into the technical side, so some of them are working in media, but not necessarily the the technical side of it.
We have one student up in Maine.
She is the communications director for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Southern Maine.
Some of them are doing media media production down in Disney.
We have one who has worked for the Discovery Channel and done a bunch of, done some work for them.
We have students had just graduated college and they're working for AMC.
They're actually doing working on a new AMC show.
They're working in the costume department.
So we're really, really, really excited about the success of our alumni.
And we know with the students that we currently have in college and with the students that I'm teaching right now, that that success is only going to continue.
And I really feel that they're successful.
It's not because of me, it's because of the passion that they have.
The fact that the school is willing to allow me the freedom to teach video production and cinematography and broadcasting and just the media, the media pathway in a way that is fun for the kids and catches them and makes them want to do this as a career.
