I'm a townee and I have lived here all my life.
Born here, educated here.
Until I went away for grad school.
I was a professor at the University.
For 36 years.
I have been the president and vice president, board member at the Plymouth Historical Society.
And it has just allowed me to soar getting to know the people in the town I thought I knew people.
That's not true.
When you have an opportunity to interview people, they open their hearts.
And I've been so lucky to listen to their stories.
When I did Hal, Hal Webster was about 100 years old.
When I interviewed him.
His story was that he would walk to school.
He was in Holderness, which meant every day he would have to walk approximately five miles one way, unless he could catch the cart and horse that the Merrill's had at the time.
And I just fell in love with doing that.
I want to capture those stories.
I may have known the names of people, but I didn't know their stories.
And that's what's kept me interested.
We shouldn't lose those things.
Those are really important.
I know the events and places in this town.
What has happened?
And you would cry if you heard the stories or be happy about some of the stories, but it's the people that I'm concerned with, and hopefully the next generation will ask the same questions.
I really loved Plymouth.
How lucky I was to have walked to school and my high school girlfriends, and no one lives here anymore, but when we get together they say the same thing.
We were so lucky, blessed to have gone to Plymouth High School and were born here.
Most of them were born here in the town of Plymouth.
Plymouth is a special place.
